Stage name of Lucille Le Seur. 1908-1977. US
film actress. Beginning her career as a
chorus girl 1924, her first film appearance
was in 1925. She became a star with her
performance as a `flapper' in Our Darling
Daughter 1928. In later films she appeared as
a sultry, mature woman. Her films include
Mildred Pierce 1945 (for which she won an
Academy Award), Password 1947, and Whatever
Happened to Baby Jane? 1962.
